It doesn't get much better than the days we've been having - so my advice is Carpe Diem!

Hither, Thither and Yon
This Week's Quiz: Match the above with the answers below
A.Saturday Night in Somalia
B.Somewhere in the North Valley
C.Georgia O'Keefe painting
D.Morocco
If you have been following the news, you know about what happened in Mogadishu this past weekend. In a word: tragedy. More than 200 were killed and hundreds more injured in twin truck bombings Saturday night. You can read the NYT report by CLICKING HERE. This has got to stop.
As for the camel....the correct answer is Albuquerque's North Valley, not the O'Keefe-like photo (by Joel Collins) of Moroccan dunes. "So what does this have to do with the price of eggs in China?" you say. Nothing at all. I had an email from my sister this morning about riding a dromedary to a very luxe tent camp in the Sahara, and I thought we could all use a bit of arm chair tourism. Caveat emptor: this is not a millennial ecotour, but in case you're interested, these folks run a tight ship....or a fast camel, depending on your taste. To CHEK-THE-TREK, click on CHECK THIS OUT

Whether you were euphoric or despondent isn't the point here. It's about making your voice heard and your vote count this time around.
For many people in Albuquerque who are still unaware of this: There is a Runoff Election on November 14th.
And that's not the whole enchilada...if you live in City Council District 5, it's a double feature.
FOR ABQ MAYOR: Dan Lewis (City Council, Dist 5) vs. Tim Keller (NM State Auditor, former 2-term State Senator and Majority Whip)
FOR DISTRICT 5 CITY COUNCIL: Robert Aragon (R) vs. Cynthia Borrego (D)
On Deck: EARLY VOTING - Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm, OCTOBER 25 - NOVEMBER 10 (same early voting locations as before)
The Big Kahuna: ELECTION DAY - Tuesday, NOVEMBER 14th from 7am - 7pm
For more information on voting locations: click on ABQVOTE

In-and-Out Dining
OUT:
Yes, this is not the first time I have featured this Nob Hill restaurant, but I ate there 2 times this weekend, Saturday lunch and last night for dinner, so I thought I should put my words where my mouth was, so to speak....why is this worth a trip through A.R.T. destructomania? First of all, I am always Stalking the Great Cheeseburger and this is one you can count on. 2.They have Knob Creek in the bar and you can get a pretty darn good Old Fashioned if you aren't a beer drinker. If you are a beer drinker and think beer isn't just for breakfast anymore (haha), these guys pick good beers to put on tap - you won't go away disappointed. 3.Unusual and approaching-extinct, you can actually hear each other in this restaurant. What a mitzvah! and 4. MOST IMPORTANTE: You are supporting a Central Ave. establishment that is so colossally and negatively impacted by the A.R.T. construction, we all need to support this corridor. Remember: We Are Better Together.

Recipe: Green Chile-Lamb Stew
MOLLY MANZANARES' LAMB GREEN CHILE STEW (Serves 2 to 4)
1 pound lamb stew meat, cut into small chunks
1 tablespoon oil
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 - 2 garlic cloves
1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped green chile
3 cups water
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 small tomato, chopped (optional)
salt to taste
Lightly brown the lamb in the oil. Add the flour and stir to coat the
meat. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for at least an hour.
Season with salt and pepper and serve.
Potatoes make a great addition to this dish, either cooked in the stew or
cooked separately and served alongside it.
You aren't in Kansas anymore, Dorothy .... or in my case, This ain't no New-York-City. So, what do I know about Green Chile Stew? Truth be told? Absolutamenta nada! Ningun cosa, de verdad. Pero....I know when I eat a sure thing and this recipe, when made with Shepherd's lamb from Tierra Amarilla is pretty close to perfection for this gringa. Truly. That doesn't mean you can't switch out the lamb for chicken or beef, but you'll be sorry you did.
