Activism - The Rent We Pay For Living on the Planet
A few things, if appropriate, to consider:
- The 2019 NM Legislative Session is considering incredibly important bills this year and contacting your House and Senate district representatives is how you can make a difference and also participate in Democracy (something I'm afraid is at risk these days). To get up to speed on what's going on at any given time, visit nmleg.org
You can watch both the House and Senate sessions live - it's fantastic!
- Or, while definitely more biased in terms of focus, a quick guide to what's happening can be found here, along with several ways to engage:
- If you are a Democrat living in Bernalillo County, Ward, Precinct and County Central Committee elections are coming up on Sat, March 23rd.
These are extremely important elections - please mark your calendars and attend.CLICK HEREfor locations and times. If you don't know your Ward, use the map to find it: CLICK HERE
- If you're a Republican, no doubt you already know what to do - the Republican Party is much better organized!

This one I can vouch for - dined here on Saturday before the fabulous Olga Kern event at Popejoy.
It was so nice to see a Hungarian white wine, a Furmint, among the selections. Presentation on the cheese and meat boards is AAA and the menu is chock full of tempting fare. A great idea if you're looking for a bite to eat before a performance, headed to the UNM bookstore, or just aren't in the mood for the Frontier.

Shallow? Despite The Washington Post's snarky review, I loved the Lady Gaga / Bradley Cooper duet at last night's Academy Awards.
Good News: Green Book won best picture.
Sad News: Glenn Close didn't win Best Actress for her role in The Wife.
Bad News: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences really blew this year's Academy Awards ceremony (IMHO).
Note to Diary: Get a Magic Wand to wave over any 2018 film of note and make a wish: "This is too long. Please find at least 20 minutes of footage to delete."

From goodreads:
Drawing on Eastern philosophy, Buddhism, Japanese Psychology, Zen, the Samurai, and Martial Arts, Gregg Krech offers an approach to ACTION that guides you to doing what is important for you to do in the time you have available. Most of us associate Eastern wisdom with meditation and contemplation. Krech offers a complimentary collection of wisdom on the Art of Taking Action that will help you take action even when you don’t feel like it. This isn’t just another “how to get things done” book. It’s about how you do what you do, and the impact that your action (and inaction) has on the world.
So...don't wait to finish your other Japanese thriller, Declutter Your House, before giving this a shot. Who knows, maybe you'll learn there are more important uses of your time! However, you might want to read up on Morita therapy - for an unflinchingly beautiful website, click here
