"Children's Day, founded as a national holiday in the United States in 1948, has been celebrated in Japan since ancient times. It is a day for families to celebrate the healthy growth and happiness of children. On Children's Day, families fly huge carp-shaped streamers (koinobori) outside the house and display dolls of famous warriors and other heroes inside. The carp was chosen because it symbolizes strength and success; according to a Chinese legend, a carp swam upstream to become a dragon. In honor of the day, the ABQ BioPark will be making koi kites in the Japanese Garden."
In case you missed the Spring Flower Show at the Botanic Gardens, a few shots I took on a recent visit:
There's so much to see at the BioPark - there's a reason this is NM's top venue.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

In the last week, I had undoubtedly three of the best desserts I have had in my life. Yes, indeed - a banner week.
Two were creations of the pastry chef at Los Poblanos' campo restaurant. Both chocolate cakes and absolutely divine.
The third, a tart lemon custard tart, with fresh blueberries with a buckwheat crust - festooned with little flowers.
All Birthday desserts for three of the niftiest people you could hope for!
