VIRTUAL Alexander Girard: A Designer's Universe

VIRTUAL Alexander Girard: A Designer's Universe

April 29, 2020 - December 31, 2021

Alexander Girard was one of the most influential interior and textile designers of the 20th century. Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe is the first major retrospective on Girard’s work, organized by the Vitra Design Museum in Germany. With this new VIRTUAL TOUR open a door to his creative universe and shows his close relationships with contemporaries such as Charles & Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, Andy Warhol, Rudi Gernreich, and many others. Featured are Girard’s designs in textiles, furniture, and sculptures, as well as numerous sketches, drawings, and collages never shown before.

Girard was also a pivotal figure in the history of the Museum of International Folk Art, donating more than 100,000 objects from his and his wife Susan’s folk art collection, and in 1981 creating the museum’s long-term, beloved exhibition Multiple Visions. Girard’s playful designs attest to a passion for colors, ornamentation, and inspirations from folk art.

Ah, that Glorious scent of Chiles Roasting!

This is still my favorite Green Chile Stew Recipe from Northern NM

Shepherd's Lamb Green Chile Stew

1          lb.        Ground lamb or lamb stew meat [prefer ground]

1          c.         chopped onion

1          c.         carrots, chopped [about 1 ½  carrots]

2                      celery stalks, chopped

2                      med. potatoes, cubed

5                      garlic cloves, crushed

3/4                  container. El Pinto HOT green chile, chopped

1          c          Poblano chiles, chopped  (or ½ c poblanos  with 1/2 c Hot or ¾ c Med green chiles]

1          T          olive oil

2          t           flour

6          c.         chicken broth [if not from scratch, use water and Better than Bouillon Chicken to taste]

1                      tomato (medium) , chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Saute onions and parboil carrots.

Lightly brown the meat in oil.

Add the flour and stir to coat meat.

Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for at least 1 hour.

Season with salt and pepper and serve.

Notes: After cooking,  cool and refrigerate. Later,  skim surface of excess fat.

Let flavors blend overnight and eat the next day.

I love this w  ground lamb – terrific flavor, and less heavy than cubes of lamb meat.

This is chile roasting time in NM and poblanos make this outrageous.

The Comey Rule

The relationship between FBI Director James Comey and President Trump during the first months of the Trump presidency, and the FBI's impact on the 2016 Election.

Jeff Daniels is brilliant.

‘The Comey Rule’ might make you angry. The people who made it hope it serves as a lesson.

This Week's Controversy

The Hatch Act, The Emoluments Law, The Affordable Care Act, Abortion and Reproductive Rights, Voter Suppression, etc.

America in crisis - this week's Judicial Committee SCOTUS confirmation hearings crowd an already full plate of issues confronting the American public -

the Coronavirus pandemic, a Presidential election in process, CA wildfires, voter suppression efforts throughout the country, and continued racial tension and civil protest.

Rightfully so, the majority of Americans polled feel this SCOTUS confirmation should be delayed until after November 3rd.

Why the double standard?

Mitch McConnell refused to hold confirmation hearings in MARCH 2016 because "the American people should have a say in the Court's direction". In 2016,  Ted Cruz said "You don't do this in an Election Year."   What changed? Can't blame it all on Donald Trump  - these are Senators who have done a 180 from their 2016 positions.

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of the hypocrisy. I'm fed up with the Dark Money in US politics. I want my country back.
