ABQ Weather or Not

Clouds. In the sky. On the ground. Buddhists believe our reality is a projection of our mind. I'm working on that...

This Week's Soundtrack

Why not get off to a rousing start with this incredible performance? NOTE: Find a few uninterrupted minutes so you can really savor it.

"Oh, fear is a liar with a smooth and velvet tongue
Fear is a tyrant
He's always telling me to run..."

Note: Ain't No Grave is a traditional American Southern Gospel song, composed by Claude Ely while he was 11 years old and suffering from tuberculosis. Allegedly, his family prayed for his health, and in response he spontaneously performed this song. Ely later became an Evangelical preacher in Virginia and continued his songwriting.

Gearing Up for the June 2nd NM Primaries

Note: Following both the Republican and Democratic NM Pre-Primary Conventions, the action seems to be in the North and South:

Congressional District 3: Teresa Leggier Fernandez  or Laura Montoya (Ds) vs  Harry Montoya or Karen Bedonie (Rs)

Congressional District 2: Xochitl Torres Small (D) / Incumbent vs Yvette Herrell or Clair Chase (Rs)

And for Tom Udall's US Senate seat: Ben Ray Lujan (D) vs Elisa Martinez or Mark Ronchetti (Rs)

(The Primary candidates  above all met or exceeded the 20% of the convention delegate vote threshold)

______________

Our CD1 US Representative Deb Haaland (D) will be challenged by Michelle Garcia Holmes or Jared Vanderbilts Dussen (Rs)

COVID-19

What to say about this? First, THE BUMP: It seems like all us huggers, handshakers, cheek and air-kissers need to find a new form of greeting. The "Bump" in its many forms seems to be the current "Greet to Beat" - the top contender.

 The Elbow Bump

 The Foot Shake

 Namaste

  The Bow

No Kissing. No more faire la bise. Wash your hands with warm water and soap for two rounds of Happy Birthday. Masks don't seem to be recommended unless you are exhibiting symptoms - in which case, get checked out by a doctor. Go to the CDC website for your information - Mike Pence and POTUS are not Contagious Disease experts.

Editor's note: I personally think if we had paid sick leave and healthcare for everyone in this country, we could all sleep a little easier.

Closing Shots / Thoughts

Why my cat is named Otto Manelli - Ottomanelli was my Greenwich Village butcher while I lived in New York. If you think it's weird to name a comical ginger after a butcher, how about a sober tabby after an East Bay wine importer?

Kermit Lynch, soon also to be 11 years old.

We need to find our joy where we can these days. Politics are ugly. The coronavirus is scary. Life is uncertain and we've had a volatile few weeks with the financial markets. Why not focus on our pets? Or the natural world? Take a break to chill a bit - and if you can't get away, Love the one you're with!
